The Pilates Garage offers private, duet and trio lessons from a basic to advanced level instructed by Michelle Ward a Certified Romana's Pilates Instructor

The Pilates Garage teaches the true Pilates method how Joseph H. Pilates intended. Keeping the movement authentic we are able to connect deeper into the powerhouse to create a more beneficial workout that can be tailored to suit each individuals needs. Sessions are instructed by Michelle Ward a certified Romana’s Pilates Instructor with 700+ hours training and years of experience working with the body. Whether a beginner, recovering from an injury, or an advanced student of the method an individualized system will be created for you to support better strength, balance, flexibility, control and power in your movement and life.

Michelle Ward was born and raised in Austin, Texas USA. She attended college at Arizona State University where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Education. After college her continued interest in the body led her to study massage therapy, and in 2005 she moved to San Francisco where she began working as a body worker while training and performing with local modern dance companies. Through her dance training Michelle discovered Pilates and the benefits of a regular Pilates practice.

In 2010 Michelle moved to Australia with her husband and 2 children. Disenchanted by her previous experiences as a massage therapist where she was given the sole responsibility of resolving client’s chronic issues, which she felt they needed to take an active role in, she turned to Pilates. Pilates presented as a way to work with people and enhance their understanding of their own body helping them unlock the strength within it, resulting in a renewed more healthy and functional vessel.

Michelle began training at Cynthia Lochard’s Pilates Method Studio and soon confirmed her passion for the work beginning her training program. She completed the 700+ hour training program under the guidance of one of only four Grand Master Teacher Trainers world wide, Cynthia Lochard. Upon completion of the program she was asked to begin teaching at the studio where she continues to work closely with Cynthia and her staff of Principle Instructors of the True Pilates Method.

In January 2014 Michelle opened The Pilates Garage bringing the full benefits of the True Pilates Method to the Sutherland Shire. The studio is fully equipped with Gratz equipment, the original makers of Pilates designs, each made to the strict specifications of Joseph H. Pilates. Michelle is happy to be sharing the benefits of Pilates with each of her clients, bringing them into their bodies helping them integrate the work throughout their daily routine truly making a difference in their lives.
